"Had an awesome South Indian meal in downtown Toronto. Service was great, and the food honestly felt like being back in Chennai. Don't miss the appetizers, Chettinad Paneer, Podi Idli and Dosa. The sambar was next level."
Podi Idli in Downtown Toronto
Soft steamed idli coated in fiery, nutty podi – one of the dishes a Google reviewer told others not to miss at Madras Curry. Enjoy it in our dining room on Carlton Street or order it online for pickup or delivery, any day until midnight.
About Our Podi Idli
Idli are soft, round steamed cakes made from a fermented batter of rice and urad dal, a staple of South Indian breakfast tables. Podi idli takes them a step further: the idli are tossed in podi, often called gunpowder, a coarse, dry spice powder of roasted lentils and red chillies, usually loosened with a little ghee or oil so it clings to every piece.
Madras Curry's Podi Idly comes as four pieces. If you prefer your idli plain, order classic Idli, or try Idly with chicken salna for something heartier. Like the flavour of podi? The Podi Dosa is on the menu as well.
