"Had an awesome South Indian meal in downtown Toronto. Service was great, and the food honestly felt like being back in Chennai. Don't miss the appetizers, Chettinad Paneer, Podi Idli and Dosa. The sambar was next level."
Medhu Vada in Downtown Toronto
Crisp outside and soft inside, medhu vada is a South Indian favourite that our guests keep talking about – it comes up in 28 of our Google reviews. Order a plate in our Carlton Street dining room or online for pickup or delivery, any day until midnight.
About Our Medhu Vada
Medhu vada (also called medu vada or ulundu vadai) is a savoury, doughnut-shaped fritter made from a batter of ground urad dal, often seasoned with black pepper, green chilli, ginger and curry leaves, then deep-fried until golden. It is a classic South Indian breakfast and tea-time snack, usually dipped in sambar or eaten with chutney.
At Madras Curry, Medhu Vada is in the appetizers section and comes as a pair. It is a natural partner for idli or dosa – the idli-vada combination many South Indian food lovers look for in Toronto. For a different texture, try our Masala Vada too.
